The Agency

Families For Children

The past several months I have done a huge amount of research on the different adoption agencies that specialize in China Adoptions. I have over a dozen information packets from all different agencies. Some information packets are fancy while some are very simple. I have narrowed down our options to four agencies. The first is Harrah Family Services - www.hfsadopt.com . I have had some really good experiences with this agency already. I have had several questions regarding adoption unique to our situation. Not only were they wonderful on getting back to me immediately, but some of the questions required a lot of research and leg work. They were so willing to help - and we have not even signed on with them. Needless to say I was very impressed. The second is Journeys of the Heart - http://www.journeysoftheheart.net/. This agency comes very highly recommended from a dear friend of mine, who has adopted two beautiful daughters from China through this agency. The third agency is a local agency called Families For Children. I know two families who have used this agency and were very pleased. http://www.adoptffc.org/index.html Carrie - the woman who is over the China Adoptions - owns an adorable shoe company called "Puddle Jumper Shoes". Here is her website - aren't her daughters beautiful! http://www.puddlejumpershoes.com/about_us.php . I like the fact that this agency is local - it feels comforting to know they are located just a few minutes away. The fourth agency is Wasatch International Adoption Agency located in Ogden, Utah. This is an agency with lots of experience and is also local. They are wonderful and have been very helpful as well. http://www.wiaa.org/ When the time gets closer J and I together will decide which agency is best.

Another aspect of the adoption I am researching is a Homestudy agency. I know if we go through Families for Children or WIAA they will do our homestudy. But the other two agencies are out of state and we have to find a Utah agency to do our homestudy. I have asked for opinions on the Yahoo APC boards. Hopefully I will get some good ideas.
